Alibek Kabdurakhmanov Appointed Artistic Director of Eurasian Stars 2026

The Eurasian Stars Festival has announced the appointment of Uzbek conductor Alibek Kabdurakhmanov as Artistic Director for its 2026 edition, marking an exciting new chapter for the international classical music event.

 

Known for his dynamic and communicative conducting style, Kabdurakhmanov has emerged as one of the leading musical figures in Central Asia. Since assuming leadership roles within the region’s orchestral scene, he has brought renewed artistic vision and energy, championing bold programming and promoting the music of Uzbek composers while guiding orchestras toward greater international recognition.

Originally trained as a percussionist in his native Tashkent, Kabdurakhmanov studied conducting at the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan under Vladimir Neimer. Early in his career he co-founded the experimental Axes Percussion Group and performed with the innovative Omnibus Ensemble, experiences that shaped his open-minded and exploratory artistic approach.

Kabdurakhmanov has conducted at major international venues including the Berlin Philharmonie, Victoria Hall, and Dubai Opera. He is also a regular guest at prominent festivals such as the InClassica International Music Festival, the Turksoy Festival, and the Silk Road International Festival. Over the years he has shared the stage with internationally acclaimed soloists including Behzod Abduraimov, Denis Matsuev, Maxim Vengerov, Anna Netrebko, Julian Steckel, and Zee Zee.

Under his artistic leadership, the 2026 edition of the Eurasian Stars Festival is expected to bring together outstanding musicians from across the world, continuing the festival’s mission of fostering cultural dialogue between East and West through the universal language of music.
